ABOUT ME

As a 19-year-old, I was hired as a Respiratory Therapist at my local hospital.  I wasn't even old enough to sign up for the 401K benefits or Savings Bonds.  I worked in the Cardiopulmonary department and advanced my credentials as well as obtained a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care with an emphasis in management.  The department head job opened up, and I was hired!  I served in that capacity for three years. I taught local college classes on the side. When my second child was about two, my heartstrings pulled so hard to be with my family more.  I was often 'on-call' and worked long hours as the manager.  After prayer and discussions with my husband, Sam,  I decided to go back to school and work towards a teaching certificate.  I could at least be with my family full-time in the summers!

Now, 10 years later, I've homeschooled my own children, worked for two private schools and worked in the public school system.  I feel very well-rounded and comfortable in multiple education settings.

In 2008 my husband and I adopted two more children.  A girl and a boy joined our family through the foster care system.

In 2016, my husband and I adopted three more children, making our total seven.  Three more little girls were added to our family.  They too were from the state foster care system.

Over the 10 years we did foster care, there were over 20 children who entered our home as foster children but left as loved ones - never forgotten - always my child.
